After a 24-hour flight delay followed by over 10 hours of layovers, I am FINALLY in Luxembourg! It was quite an adventure just getting here, but at least I'm here safely and have had the chance to settle into the new environment. This past weekend was spent exploring the city: we walked around downtown and went to an amazing place called The Chocolate House, saw an ancient castle, and were given a tour of the oldest winery in Luxembourg. I haven't exactly experienced any culture shock yet, although it is weird never hearing English, being able to buy my own drinks, and having to take public transportation everywhere. Everyone in the program seems really nice, and It's been great making new friends and exploring the city that I will call my home for the next few months.
I have also just finished up with my first week of classes, and there isn't one class I haven't enjoyed. I am taking three history classes (one on Western heritage, one of the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler, and one on European cities), beginner's level French, European cinema, and art history. So far, I think art history is my favorite, but all my classes are interesting and the professors are all really cool. I'm getting ready to leave for my first weekend trip with some new friends to Cologne, Germany, and it's so exciting to finally start my adventure in Europe.
