I thought I would take a minute to to talk a little bit about my day to day life here in Luxembourg. I live in Bettembourg, which is a quaint little town about ten minutes from Luxembourg City and about thirty minutes from Differdange, where my school is located. We all call our school "the chateau," because the building is an old castle (it's basically like Hogwarts). The chateau is really nice; it has several classrooms, a library with computers, books, and printers, a common room with couches and tables that we all call "The Cave," and a kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, and refrigerators we can use. A group of us actually cook dinner on Wednesday nights, so that kitchen comes in very useful! It's nice to have a sit-down, home-cooked meal every now and then. Since I live far away, I usually stay at the chateau all day and don't get back home until later at night. Because of this, I don't get to see my host family too often, but I enjoy spending time with them when I can. My host parents, Isabel and Christian, have three young daughters, and the entire family is so kind and hospitable.
I've finally gotten used to the train system, and haven't messed it up (yet). Being able to find my way around time without needing any help definitely boosts my confidence and makes me feel more comfortable about living here.
Below, I've posted a couple pictures of the chateau. It's so beautiful even in the dead of winter, I can't imagine how pretty it will look in the spring once all the flowers start to bloom.
